June 2019 Update
We have a fundraising event that will go towards our continued drive to give each girl student a "Days for Girls" kit, so they don't have to miss school each month. We have already delivered close to 500 of these kits for our two schools, Emwaniro and Ekambuli, and we still need some 275 more kits to have each and ever girl taken care of. If you live in and around the Boulder area, here are the event details:

March 2019 Update
As we announced on our facebook page, we did get the school lunch program for the school year that started in January (Kenya school year is January through October). The amazing thing that happened, is we had funding to feed roughly 30 to 35 students for both schools, and we did the initial wire transfer to the schools at the end of December. We will do three wire transfers as the school year moves forward, and we already dd the second one. A newly elected MP, that represents this area, heard about what we were doing, and decided to donate half of his salary to the school lunch program!
With that additional funding, the schools are feeding 180 students each, or 360 total students! It is incredible how God has provided additional funds for this program, and we give Him all the glory, as none of this would be happening without Him!
If your interested in joining us to feed children, who many live on one meal per day, and some of the most needy are eating every couple of days, although now 360 of these most needy kids are now getting a meal every school day. For some of these kids, they are more than doubling their nutrition. Help us out, if you can, its only $4 per month to feed one student all year! Click the button below to donate.

October 2018 Update
We have been back from Kenya for awhile, but we are still recovering. No so much from the time change, but there is so much to do still, but I thought I would share some of what God accomplished on our trip.
First, we met with all the children, and there care givers. That was special, because it was the first time we were able to meet them in person. During that meeting, Monica took fresh pictures of all the children, and we have been updating our records to make sure we have everything correct (still ongoing for some). During that meeting we received some feedback on our animal program from the caregivers, and it was decided we would purchase fewer animals, but provide some cash for them to take care of vet care, and other needs they may have. During the week, we purchased almost 300 chickens (293 to be exact), and distributed them to the care givers, and in some cases to the children to take home to their care givers, because they couldn't meet with us. This was a real blessing, and its just the start of what we would like to do.
Second, we met with both schools, on the school lunch program. The great thing about those meetings, is that both schools have put together small dinning areas, and kitchens, and a detailed budget for the program. The great news is that the cost is between $3 and $4 per student, instead of the $10 we were estimating! We will be relaunching our fund raising efforts for this in the next days, to reflect the lower costs. Each school will be setting up a separate bank account for the program, and we will start transferring the funds we have already raised, plus the monthly donations that are coming in on a monthly basis. We will only be able to feed between 10 and 15 students between the two schools with the existing funds, so if your interested in participating, please donate here using the button below.

June 2018 Update
Since December, we have been using Facebook a lot to attempt to reach more people, with some success. We have added three more sponsors for the Stay in School program. We raised close to 10% of the money towards the purchase of the goats and chickens for the caregiver families of the orphans.
We are also in the final planning stages for our trip to Kenya, which will now be in September. We will be focusing on purchasing the animals and getting them to the caregivers for the orphaned children. We will also be doing what we can to get a school lunch program off the ground.

December 2017 Update
Right now, one of our board members, Melissa Rogers Malumbe is in Kenya, and she will be overseeing the distribution of this school years bags, school supplies, school uniforms, shoes, school fees and medicine to the 84 orphans!
Don't forget, we still have lots of children that need permanent sponsors!

August 2017 Update
In May of this year (2017), one of our board members visited Kenya, and interviewed kids and their support families. Through that process we have identified 84 children, who are all orphaned, and its these 84 children that we are going to be asking to be sponsored.
The sponsorship will include a school uniform (annually), a pair of shoes (annually), their school fees, and their school supplies. Also, some of our students are HIV positive, so we will also cover their medication for those students that have that need.
We will be sending over school supplies in December, as their school year starts in January, and we will be covering their school fees, their uniform and shoes with existing funds we have for this first year, so the sponsors will be giving towards their next academic year.
We are very excited to see how God will work to accomplish getting this first set of children sponsored for their schooling!
The local schools that these children are attending, or would attend, are also in desperate need for a school lunch program. These kids attend class from 7:30 am to 7:00 pm and don't have any food during the day at all.
So, we are also going to fund raise for a school lunch program that would cover all the students at the two schools. These schools have close to 1,800 students between them, so its a very large task, but the community has said they would contribute to building the kitchen for each school, if we could provide for the cooks and food. The costs will be around $10 per student per month, and this totals to some $180,000 per year for both schools, so its not a trivial amount, but God willing we can raise the money for it through reaching enough people to donate on a monthly basis to sustain such a project.

April 2016 Project Update
Last year, two of our board members visited Kenya, with the possibility of securing a parcel of land for our school. This land would have been donated to us free of charge!
This was very exciting, and we were hopeful, and praying that we could work out something to secure a parcel of land, but in the end this could not be done.
Because of that experience, the board has decided to take an interim step that we believe will build a relationship with the local community and their leaders that will further our ability to secure land, build and operate a school in the local area in the future.
This week, we are sending "Built on the Rock" official shirts for members of a local committee that are helping in our efforts, so they can represent us in the community. We are also sending a tool kit for them to identify "at risk" students.
These children are either at risk to drop out of the school or already have, and we will start a program to sponsor these individual children, so they can return or stay in school.
Be on the look out for more updates for this, as we will be presenting these children for individuals to sponsor.
We are excited about this, and would ask for your support and prayers to get this interim step off the ground.

July 2011 Project Update
A trip to meet the people of Khwisero, Kenya.
A group of board members took a trip thousands of miles from the Rocky Mountains to Khwisero, Kenya brought new perspective and understanding to the project that has been in the works since 2006. The two-week plus journey showed the dire need and urgency for more educational support for the Kenyan communities. Through visits to different schools and discussions with school officials, a specific need arose. An all-girls Primary Boarding School in Khwisero, Kenya.
The trip was highlighted by a "Chief Baraza" where all the elders and leaders of Khwisero community presented a need for development of education, medical facilities and care giving facilities. Local leaders have created a Development Committee that is currently searching for a large enough plot of land that can be used for the girls boarding school.
We are excited to begin the next step of the project and we are continually raising funds for the purchase of the land. With this new founded partnership with the local community, we are confident that land acquisition will soon become a reality.
